Muhammad Abu Rizeq

In-flight Chef|ENF Fellow

I have always dreamed of living a life full of action and beautiful experiences, and this is what my life has become today as an in-flight chef in one of the Arab world's leading airlines.

My dream of studying culinary arts was made possible by Elia Nuqul Foundation because they believed in my passion and capabilities. Although I faced some challenges in the beginning, I found out that one cannot learn without making mistakes.

My mistakes taught me perseverance, and I graduated first in my class at The Royal Academy for Culinary Arts. Our life and professional skills drive us to perform the best way possible in our jobs, and this is what sets ENF scholars apart from others entering the job market.

I never expected that I would compete against highly experienced individuals as I sat for the evaluation test of my current job.

I was indeed shocked when I saw several people - my seniors- sit for this test at the Central Bank of Jordan, people who clearly have more experience than I do – a fresh graduate who just started out, and I was quite intimidated at the time.

When I got the news that I was hired I realized that while academic knowledge is valuable, it isn’t everything.

Our confidence in ourselves and our capabilities plays a huge role in getting a job, which is something I learned from the personal and professional development training I took with Elia Nuqul Foundation.

I have an innate passion for community service as well, and it made me organize short courses for my classmates at university ahead of exams to help them perform better, especially when I was at the top of my class.

I hold this experience dear to my heart because it taught me that being a giving person enriches my life.
