Muhammad Abu Rizeq

In-flight Chef|ENF Fellow

I have always dreamed of living a life full of action and beautiful experiences, and this is what my life has become today as an in-flight chef in one of the Arab world's leading airlines.

My dream of studying culinary arts was made possible by Elia Nuqul Foundation because they believed in my passion and capabilities. Although I faced some challenges in the beginning, I found out that one cannot learn without making mistakes.

My mistakes taught me perseverance, and I graduated first in my class at The Royal Academy for Culinary Arts. Our life and professional skills drive us to perform the best way possible in our jobs, and this is what sets ENF scholars apart from others entering the job market.

Being an engineer at an NGO operating in Al Zaatari Camp opened up many professional and humanitarian opportunities.

Although it wasn’t specifically my job, I developed a “cash-for-work” program for refugees, as well as personally giving them professional and personal development courses on a monthly basis.

A year into the program, I received funding to further develop it. I have achieved plenty with the knowledge I have gained from my time with Elia Nuqul Foundation; due to the skills I have learned at the time, and despite my age, my responsibilities at work are growing, and my colleagues and superiors alike come to me for advice.

And wherever I go and whatever I do, I make sure my values are front and center: to do good wherever I go.
